Changes to the Area Structure Plan There are several ongoing applications to increase density in Springbank Hill. For a synopsis see the Planning Issues section of the community website at http://springbankhill.org/news_and_events The Community Association supports an update to the ASP and understands that the City, Planning and Council are all looking for increases in density and intensification. There is also a shortage of retail and mixed-use development in the Community. However, we have been consistent in enforcing the current plan and the formal process for amendments. Any increases in density must take into account roads and traffic, transit, infrastructure, environmental reserves, green space and pathways and the needs of the residents and the character of our neighborhoods. There are two current applications that SBHCA has not supported and two planned applications for increases in density. As concerned citizens and neighbours, we encourage you to share you viewpoints with us at planning@springbankhill.org and with Councillor Pootman's office. You can also follow progress of the City’s review of 17 Ave SW, between 77 Street and 85 Street on the City’s website by entering the search field “Springbank Hill” at Calgary.ca |
